Director of Religious Exploration

Ayla Halberstadt is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, who was raised in Northern Illinois. Currently her primary life goal is to become a Unitarian Universalist minister, concentrating in children’s and youth ministry. Ayla has been a member of UUFCO since 2009, serving positions on COM (Committee on Ministry), the Board of Trustees, and being a co-advisor for the UUFCO youth group.

Her passions in RE are: having faith-based engaging curriculum, facilitating Our Whole Lives sexuality education curriculum for all ages, and fostering relationships with families, children, and youth to make their time in RE meaningful and fun. Ayla received an undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Sciences and is very excited to be able to put her knowledge from school and from her own Unitarian Universalist identity into practice.

You can also find Ayla teaching swimming lessons at Juniper Swim and Fitness where she works as a swim instructor. She looks forward to creating beloved community and helping our religious education for children and youth flourish and grow.
