Our Mission The Nourish Team is focused on providing fresh produce and perishables to local food pantries to help provide high quality nutrition to those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.

Our Work Food insecurity has become a major issue in our country, our state and our community and is affecting those who not only are unhoused but also those housed, working or medically challenged who are struggling to secure enough food to eat to maintain health.  Nourish supports the amazing agencies in our community already doing the hard work of meeting these people’s needs.  Nourish is a service oriented program, asking UUFCO volunteers to come forward once a month for a Produce and Perishables Food Drive and to participate in our Gardening for Giving program at Hollinshead Community Garden during the summer months.

Our History and Impact The idea of Nourish germinated after a panel presentation by local food pantries and programs in November 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic.  In March 2021,  Nourish was established as a Social Justice team under the co-leadership of Donna Dobkin and Ginny Sponsler, two retired social workers, interested not only in continuing their own service to our community but also in encouraging UUFCO congregants to support the local food programs that work so diligently to help our food insecure neighbors.
